Levitate Me: Desire, Ecstasy and the Sublime in Art History: Talk with Emma Richardson and Sara Ricardi
Saturday 15 August 2026
2.30pm - 3.30pm
Event Information
Emma Richardson’s current solo exhibition is an ode to some of the most visceral human experiences, expressed in abstracted form. On the gallery walls, the artist’s contemporary pieces are put in dialogue with selected artworks from the collection, spanning several centuries. In this event, Richardson will introduce her work, and art historian Sara Ricardi will expand on the themes of the exhibition, looking at them from a broader art-historical lens. In how many forms was desire represented in past centuries’ art? What did it mean to represent transcendence? And what does this tell us about art’s power to express humanity?
This talk will last around an hour, with time to ask questions and explore the exhibition afterwards.
