Weekday Wonderings Walking Tour with Pete Shawyer: Southampton Stonemason’s Vaults Walk

Weekday Wonderings is a weekday initiative from Southampton City Council Cultural Services, exploring the rich history and heritage of the town. Each session is different, but it could be a talk, tour or something entirely different! Look out for exciting activities on different weekdays!

Delve into the incredible vaults lying under Southampton’s streets with former city stonemason Pete Shawyer. Since the 1960s Pete has explored, worked on and come to know and love the fascinating vaults in Southampton, built by wealthy merchants during medieval times. In this walk Pete will unlock a selection of vaults and share his unparalleled knowledge of their history and how our forebears constructed them in the first place!

Please be aware that in adverse weather the tour may be cancelled or postponed at short notice. Regrettably this tour is unsuitable for people with mobility concerns.

Cancellations

In the unlikely event that we cancel a session, we will offer a full refund. Unfortunately tickets are otherwise non-refundable. Please contact us if you wish to transfer your ticket to a friend if you cannot attend for any reason.
