D-Day 80: D-Day Walking Tour

Sunday 9 June 2024
11am - 12.30pm
2pm - 3.30pm

Event Information

Southampton played a monumental role in the embarkation of troops and equipment during Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy which began on 6th June 1944: D-Day. Over the next year, three and a half million service personnel passed through the port of Southampton, along with 250,000 vehicles. This was more than any other British port during the Second World War. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, join historian Andy Skinner for a walking tour exploring stories, sites and scenes from Southampton’s part in ‘the Greatest Day’.

The tour will begin in St Michael’s Square and will last approximately 90 minutes. This tour will run twice on the same day, at 11am and 2pm. Regrettably this tour is not suitable for those with mobility concerns.

In the unlikely event that we cancel a session, we will offer a full refund. Unfortunately tickets are otherwise non-refundable. Please contact us if you wish to transfer your ticket to a friend if you cannot attend for any reason.
