Exploring Collage with Jacqui Mair: In response to the exhibition Art Then!
Sunday 7 February 2027
11am - 4pm
Event Information
Work with artist and illustrator Jacqui Mair to explore this infinitely satisfying artform to create something unique in paper. Taking inspiration from the exhibition, we will have time to observe and study one or more of the paintings before using simplified elements to create a response with collage. Using Jacqui’s personal papers as a starting point you are encouraged to use mixed media over simplified collage papers for a fresh perspective. Collage requires few tools or supplies, anyone with an appreciation for cut and paste and an appreciation for paper can do it.
Suitable for all; from absolute beginners to experienced artists wanting to explore different techniques. All materials provided.
About the exhibition
Art Then! explores British art from 1910 – 1960 and includes work by artists such as Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant, Mark Gertler and Alfred Wallis. Dynamic, striking paintings with vibrant colour provide the perfect starting point for this workshop.
