Weekday Wonderings: In the Footsteps of the Friars Walking Tour with Andy Skinner
Wednesday 14 October 2026
10.30am - 12.30pm
Event Information
Weekday Wonderings is a weekday initiative from Southampton City Council Cultural Services, exploring the rich history and heritage of the town. Each session is different, but it could be a talk, tour or something entirely different! Look out for exciting activities on different weekdays!
Southampton has one of the oldest medieval urban water systems in England, in a story that began nearly 800 years ago. Join your guide, Andy Skinner in searching for the sometimes-elusive source of Southampton’s medieval water system in this fascinating and unique guided walk.
The linear guided walk of approximately 3 miles will begin in St Michael’s Square and finish at the Conduit Head, stopping at points of importance along the way, including the remains of the Friary, Holy Rood Church, a step inside Conduit House and visiting Conduit Head itself. This walking tour could get muddy so wear sensible apparel. Unfortunately this tour isn’t suitable for people with mobility issues.
The tour will last approximately 2 hours.
