Family History Talk with Andy Skinner: The Hidden History of The Boy Wizard
Tuesday 4 August 2026
11am - 12noon
Event Information
The Harry Potter series is full of links to ‘real’ myths and legends and absolutely crammed with allusions to history. This talk, by historian Andy Skinner, unpicks some of those fascinating connections, including the importance of names, real-life figures who crop up in the Harry Potter stories and a foray into magical creatures and the places where they can be found! Andy will also attempt to demonstrate the earliest known magic trick!
This talk will take place in our beautiful Georgian Room. As well as the talk, this event also includes admission to the museum on the day of the talk!
