Weekday Wonderings is a weekday initiative from Southampton City Council Cultural Services, exploring the rich history and heritage of the town. Each session is different, but it could be a talk, tour or something entirely different! Look out for exciting activities on different weekdays!

To celebrate International Women’s Day, join actor and historian Jane Glennie for an engaging theatrical talk set in Tudor House about the hidden dangers of Victorian clothing and the creation of The Rational Dress Society. From tight corsets & heavy clothes to poisons used to dye fabrics or make hats, Victorians were dying to be fashionable. The Society aimed to make clothing practical and comfortable but were trouser wearing women just too scandalous?

This event will take place in Tudor House’s beautiful Georgian Room. Admission to the museum is included on the day of the talk.
