Everyone Involved: In Conversation with Ian Giles and Mia Delve

Join collection artist Ian Giles and ‘a space’ arts’ Curator and Programme Manager, Mia Delve, to find out more about Ian’s film installation, ‘Everyone Involved’.

‘Everyone Involved’ was originally commissioned by ‘a space arts’ and shown at God’s House Tower, Southampton in 2024.  The artwork centres around a 4-channel film featuring ‘A Gay Song’, which is heralded as the first LGBTQIA+ protest song recorded onto vinyl in 1972. In 2024 Giles reformed the original band to re-record the song 52 years after its inception. The resulting film is shown alongside monumental wall hangings made by the artist from vintage fabrics and found textiles which he then embellished with hand-painted archival cartoons, highlighting the joyful creativity of the gay rights movement.

This event will take place in the Art Gallery’s Lecture Theatre (accessed via the ground floor) and begins at 2.30pm, lasting approximately 1 hour. You are welcome to pop up to the Gallery to experience Ian’s immersive installation before or after the event, admission to the Art Gallery is free of charge.

Cancellations

In the unlikely event that we cancel a session, we will offer a full refund. Unfortunately tickets are otherwise non-refundable. Please contact us if you wish to transfer your ticket to a friend if you cannot attend for any reason.
