Weekday Wonderings is a weekday initiative from Southampton City Council Cultural Services, exploring the rich history and heritage of the town. Each session is different, but it could be a talk, tour or something entirely different! Look out for exciting activities on different weekdays!
History performance by actor and historian Jane Glennie. In 1868 Jane Shaw Stewart was forced to leave her position as the first Superintendent General of Nurses at Netley Military Hospital.
Will her friend and colleague Florence Nightingale offer support? In this theatrical presentation Jane Glennie tells the story of these two women as they fight to establish the nursing profession.
The talk will take place in the museum’s beautiful Georgian Room and admission to the museum is included on the day of the performance.
