Hands on History: Soaring Spitfires (7yrs+)
Friday 14 August 2026
10:30am - 12noon
1pm - 2:30pm
Event Information
Hands On History sessions are just that – chances to discover amazing history in a fun, interactive way! You’ll discover stories, investigate artefacts and find out amazing facts. You pay for the young people and join them for the ride! Adults do not have to pay for this activity.
2026 is the 90th anniversary of the iconic Supermarine Spitfire’s maiden flight. To celebrate this, take to the skies and join us for this fun-filled session exploring the story of the most famous WW2 fighter plane of them all! You’ll be creating your very own water-powered rocket plane using our junk modelling kit. Please bring a 1.5 or 2 litre drinks bottle and we’ll provide the rest! Be warned, you may get wet!
Cancellations
In the unlikely event that we cancel a session, we will offer a full refund. Unfortunately tickets are otherwise non-refundable. Please contact us if you wish to transfer your ticket to a friend if you cannot attend for any reason.
If you have any questions about the event please contact us at museums@southampton.gov.uk or give us a ring at 023 8083 4536 (emails and phones are staffed weekdays 9am-5pm).
