To commemorate and celebrate 250 years since Jane Austen’s birth join us at SeaCity Museum for a day of illuminating and entertaining talks and performances about one of Hampshire’s most famous daughters, and the town she sometimes called home.
Enjoy sessions from historian Dr Cheryl Butler (Sea-bathing and Spas), actress Jane Glennie (Tea with Jane), expert Helen Howe (Jane Austen and Southampton), curator of Southampton’s local and maritime collection Dr Maria Newbery (Southampton at the time of Jane Austen) and historian Andy Skinner (Southampton and the Second Hundred Years War).
In addition to the talks programme, delegates will also have the opportunity to visit the museum’s temporary exhibition A Very Respectable Company – Jane Austen and Her Southampton Circle.
Please note that although this study day will take place on this date and be based in and around SeaCity Museum, due to major building works the venue has not yet been confirmed. This will be confirmed nearer the time. Tea and coffee will be included, however lunch is not.
Cancellations
In the unlikely event that we cancel a session, we will offer a full refund. Unfortunately tickets are otherwise non-refundable. Please contact us if you wish to transfer your ticket to a friend if you cannot attend for any reason.
