This talk is part of Weekday Wonderings, a weekday initiative from Southampton City Council Cultural Services, exploring the rich history and heritage of the town. Each session is different, but it could be a talk, tour or something entirely different! Look out for exciting activities on different weekdays!
Join Jo Wren for a brand new talk complementing our Avebury Papers exhibitions. O.G.S Crawford, a pioneer of archaeological aerial photography who in 1920 took a position working for the Ordnance Survey as their first archaeologist, starting his long association with Southampton. He became a lifelong advocate for preserving the town’s historic integrity and a founder of the Friends of Old Southampton. This talk will look at his time in Southampton and his legacy to the town, now city.
This talk will take place in the Art Gallery Lecture Theatre which is on the ground floor of the North Block of the Civic Centre on the right hand side, next to the lift.
