Weekday Wonderings: The Twilight of Roman Britain – Talk with Dr Richard Henry

Wednesday 4 February 2026
11am - 12.30pm

Event Information

Weekday Wonderings is a weekday initiative from Southampton City Council Cultural Services, exploring the rich history and heritage of the town. Each session is different, but it could be a talk, tour or something entirely different! Look out for exciting activities on different weekdays!

Traditionally, the Romans left Britain at the beginning of the 5th century AD. But things aren’t quite as simple or straightforward as that! Join Southampton City Council’s Curator of Archaeology Dr Richard Henry for an insightful exploration of the fracturing of Roman Britain. The talk will include the local impact on Roman Southampton, Clausentum.

Admission to the museum is included on the day of the talk. This talk will happen in the beautiful Georgian Room.

Cancellations

In the unlikely event that we cancel a session, we will offer a full refund. Unfortunately tickets are otherwise non-refundable. Please contact us if you wish to transfer your ticket to a friend if you cannot attend for any reason.
