Thinking Thursdays: A Walk Up The Avenue

Thursday 17 July 2015
11am - 12.30pm

Event Information

Thinking Thursdays is a weekday initiative from Southampton City Council Cultural Services, exploring the rich history and heritage of the town. Each session is different, but it could be a talk, tour or something entirely different!

Join historians Wendy Stokes and Ally Hayes from Bevois Mount History for a walk through the past of the main artery into Southampton: the Avenue. Explore the myriad of historic buildings, monuments and special spaces. Discover tales of Titanic officers, Spitfires and Oswald Mosley and his notorious blackshirts. This walk promises to be a very special tour exploring this cherished area of Southampton.

Please note that this walk will begin by the barrack block plaque of the Old Ordnance Survey building in London Road, opposite Ordnance Road (What3Words: ///either.spill.clips). Regrettably this walk is not suitable for people with mobility concerns.

Cancellations

In the unlikely event of our having to cancel a session, we will offer a full refund. Unfortunately tickets are otherwise non-refundable. Please contact us if you wish to transfer your ticket to a friend if you cannot attend for any reason.
