Walking Tour with Andy Skinner: 1338 French Raid

Saturday 4 October 2025
11am - 12.30pm

Event Information

In October 1338 Southampton was attacked in a vicious raid, which still leaves its mark on the city today. But when exactly did it happen? What do the sources and the archaeology tell us and is it true that a cannon was used in the raid?!

Join historian and guide Andy Skinner in exploring the setting, scene and history of the infamous French Raid of 1338 in this special walking tour around the anniversary of the raid itself. As always, this tour will be engaging, fun and will visit some of the medieval vaults hidden under the town.

Meet in St Michael’s Square 10 minutes before the tour begins. Regrettably the tour isn’t suitable for those with mobility issues.

20% Tudor House Admission Voucher on Day of Tour

As a ‘thank you’ for booking on the tour, if you would like to visit Tudor House on the day of the tour you can have a 20% reduction on your entrance fee. This includes annual passes. Simply inform the front of house team that you are booked onto the tour and they will pass on the discount.
