Weekday Wonderings: Tour of St Michael’s Church with Andy Skinner

Tuesday 22 September 2026
11am - 12.30pm

Event Information

Weekday Wonderings is a weekday initiative from Southampton City Council Cultural Services, exploring the rich history and heritage of the town. Each session is different, but it could be a talk, tour or something entirely different! Look out for exciting activities on different weekdays!

St Michael’s Church is the oldest surviving building in Southampton and has been central to many of the incredible events in the city’s past. In this special guided tour, join historian Andy Skinner in exploring the ins and outs of this incredible sacred space. From the Norman Conquest, to the terrifying French Raid of 1338 and the Second World War, this truly is one of the most important buildings in Southampton.
There will be outside elements of the tour and uneven floors, so please wear suitable footwear. The tour will begin in St Michael’s Square (outside Tudor House and near St Michael’s Church).

Cancellations

In the unlikely event that we cancel a session, we will offer a full refund. Unfortunately tickets are otherwise non-refundable. Please contact us if you wish to transfer your ticket to a friend if you cannot attend for any reason.

If you have any questions about the event please contact us at museums@southampton.gov.uk or give us a ring at 023 8083 4536 (emails and phones are staffed weekdays 9am-5pm).
